Walmart of Macedon, a member of the Canal Connection Chamber of Commerce, debuted a new free service at a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, May 3. Customers of the store, at 425 State Route 31, can now place their order online or via a smartphone app for grocery items. Items available include fresh produce, meats, and organic groceries. Orders placed before 10 am may be picked up on the same day, where it will be delivered right to your car.
“This will be a very beneficial service to our community,” said Chamber President Shelly Conboy. “It’s especially useful for busy parents, individuals with a physical impairment, or anyone in heels! The people of Macedon Walmart share a passion to give back and work with the community. I am excited to bring them on as a new member to our Chamber. I look forward to partnering with them in the upcoming year on this and other initiatives.”
An Easy-to-Use Service
To participate, customers go to walmart.com/grocery or download the the Walmart grocery app to their smartphones, enter their zip codes to select their local store, and create their shopping list from more than 30,000 grocery items. During checkout, they select a time to pick up their orders. Highly-trained personal shoppers will select and bag their order. At the pick-up time, the customer can park in specially-marked parking spaces and call a designated number. An associate will retrieve the order and load it in the customer’s car. As an added bonus, customers may take $10 off their first order of $50 or more by using the code WOWFRESH during checkout.
The service is available every day from 8 am to 8 pm. “In the name of convenience people just like things that are fast and convenient and it’s another way we can provide excellent customer service through Walmart,” said store manager Celia Eimer.
