Chamber Co-Sponsors Holistic Health Fair

Macedon Public Library was the site for an Alternative and Holistic Health Fair, sponsored by the library and the Canal Connection Chamber of Commerce, which was held on Saturday, April 22 (which also happened to be Earth Day). Nearly a dozen exhibitors were present, representing holistic healing practices ranging from chiropractic to homeopathy to essential oils. They explained and demonstrated their services and offered samples to more than 30 attendees. The event was free and open to the public.

A Win-Win for the Community

“Patrons have often asked about having such a fair, and they certainly have an appetite for alternative and holistic medical literature,” said library director Stacey Wicksall. “Keeping this in mind, it seemed that offering the fair would be of value to the community. They would have the opportunity to meet local practitioners and sample some of their treatments to get a better sense of what alternatives appeal.  Also, for the local practitioners, the fair helped them to reach new clients, which means they, hopefully, will be able to continue offering their services in the area.  It’s a win-win!”

Chamber of Commerce President Shelly Conboy agreed with Wicksall. “Our successful event,  located in a central area, provided the community the opportunity to hear about holistic options available to them in our local communities,” she said. “As non-chemical healing  is on the rise, we were happy to support our community members with more education and opportunity to experience them.”
